Therapy at your fingertips: New study finds AI could transform mental health care
A randomized clinical trial published in JAMA Network Open shows that an AI-based conversational support platform, "Kai," can significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and form a meaningful therapeutic alliance with users. In some measures of anxiety reduction, the AI system even outperformed human-led group therapy, suggesting a potentially important role for conversational agents in stepped-care models of digital mental health.
