Dartmouth’s Center for Technology and Behavioral Health has developed Therabot, described as the first generative AI mental health chatbot to show clinical results in a published trial. The work explores whether AI can responsibly deliver elements of therapy, while emphasizing the need for rigorous evidence, clinical oversight, and clear boundaries on the role of chatbots in mental health care.
